Friday Flashback!

Last Friday we got a lovely snow fall. For me it was particularly special because it was the eve of my 25th birthday. 25 years ago last Friday my mom and dad were waiting for me to decide to arrive and upon doing so they drove to the hospital late January 25th on a beautiful snowy evening. I won't go into the full story but growing up I've always been told about the quiet snow covered beauty of their drive to the hospital to meet me. I was born early the next morning on January 26th.

I have always loved snow. I remember being just two years old and going out in the yard to play in the snow with my Dad. Building snow men and showing Mom through the window. There is something so majestic about snow. It makes everything beautiful.

My favorite sound in the world, truly, is the sound of falling snow. Some people say snow doesn't sound like anything but they're wrong. Snow falling is the sound of hushed quiet.

I've gotten snow on my birthday a few times in my life, but it has been a few years since the last time, so for me, it was a very special gift.

My parents also happened to arrange for one of my best friends, Lauren to come stay for the weekend. She arrived midday Friday and since it was so beautiful out I just couldn't resist getting her to go out with me to take some pictures of the snowy landscape.
Narnia much?

Needless to say.. I was a very Happy Girl! :)

  1. These photos are awesome! I especially love the one of Lauren on a dock looking out onto the water.
